A Little About Me

That's me in the photo—the guy double-fisting dairy like it's going out of style. What you're witnessing is peak ice cream commitment: triple scoop in one hand, milkshake in the other, zero regrets... at least in that moment.

My malt journey began when my father introduced me to this magical flavor as a kid. That first taste sparked a lifelong passion that's taken me across state lines and through countless ice cream shops. After nine years in Minnesota, The Malt Shoppe in Duluth remains my gold standard—their seasonal summer malts became a tradition I'd share with friends. Now, with nine years in Austin, I've created new malt memories at Amy's Ice Cream, where their Texas-style malts have become the backdrop for countless celebrations with my Austin crew.

But those friend-filled malt runs came to an abrupt end when my body began rejecting the very thing that brought us together. Health issues forced me to confront what I was consuming, and the gradual realization that dairy and I needed to part ways meant more than just giving up a favorite flavor—it meant missing out on those shared moments.

During my recovery from hip surgery in 2024, that familiar craving for comfort returned—and so did the inspiration to create what I couldn't find: a dairy-free malt powder that captured the same magic I discovered with my friends at our favorite shops.

I created Malt Magic for myself, to reclaim those moments I thought were lost forever. But I know I'm not alone in this journey. If you've ever had to sit out while your friends enjoy their favorite treats, this is for you too. It's our second chance at being part of those cherished moments again.
